Patti Smith - punk hairstyles

Is it just me or has Mrs Smith had the same hairstyle for her entire career? Jesus woman, you must have sold enough records over the years to afford the odd trip to the hair stylist, surely? Patti's hairstyle is hardly a "punk-do". It's more of a Mama Cass job than anything else. Again it shouldn't be too hard to emulate this. It might take about 40 years to perfect the look though. The density of her hair comes from the dirt and grime of many a grim morning in the Piss Factory. You'd have to mad to want a look like this.
